Highlights

Environmental Impact: Positive performance in relation to greenhouse gases and technology based on biomass residues and energy crops aligned with the global movement toward a green economy.

Large-scale operation experience: GranBio operates the first 2G biorefinery in the world, on a commercial scale, independent, fully integrated and replicable, with proprietary technology.

Vertically integrated business model: end-to-end expertise of the entire value chain.

Energy Cane: Proprietary solution of the most competitive “energy crop”, with a unique ability to grow in degraded soils, with proven yields of more than 350 ton/ha/year (irrigated).

State-of-the-art proprietary technology: Production and conversion of cellulosic sugar (pre-treatment and fermentation) and synthetic biology developed and proven in an integrated demonstration and commercial scale.

Experienced technical and management teams: The company has the best executives in several areas with a long history in the cellulosic ethanol sector.

Solid partnerships: GranBio has established several partnerships for the development of energy cane, 2G ethanol and nanocellulose applications, which demonstrate the excellence of its technologies.

World-class auditing, IT and governance standards: Audited by a company belonging to the “big 4” group, deployed SAP solutions and highly recognized ethical practices with certificates of the highest standards.

GranBio is one of the best positioned players in several branches of biotechnology and is able to meet the growing demand for sustainable products on a commercial scale. It has three primary technology development hubs, in Brazil and in the USA, to develop technologies related to energy cane, 2G ethanol, biochemistry and nanocellulose.

Cutting-edge Technology Hubs

GranBio is a leader in industrial biotechnology for converting biomass into biofuels, biochemicals and renewable materials, with more than 250 global patents. The company provides technologies to produce more sustainable products, strongly supporting the fight against climate change.

It was founded in 2011 with the objective of offering cutting-edge integrated solutions to convert biomass into biofuels, biochemicals and advanced materials.

GranBio’s History

It operates 3 integrated plants in the United States and Brazil;

It has one of the largest 2G ethanol plants in the world, in Alagoas, Brazil, with 100% proprietary technology in use – the only dedicated 2G plant in operation;

GranBio also developed a proprietary process for harvesting and preparing residual biomass (cane straw) on large scale (200Kt/year) and registered 11 varieties of Cana-Vertix® energy cane, the most competitive biomass in photosynthetic efficiency known to the world.

GranBio has restructured its business model to license its expertise and provide technological assistance to customers and potential partners in joint ventures in the production and processing of biomass in cellulose sugar, 2GE, 2G biochemicals and nanocellulose.
